This is Sleepy Bear. In the 1970’s he was the mascot of the Travelodge chain of motels. He has a very special meaning for me. When I was a child my family was my mother, grandmother, & sister. We received no child support or welfare of any kind. My mother & grandmother had a very strong faith in God. Whenever times got tough they believed they needed to go to a “high place” to pray for help. I remember they would take my sister & I to a Travelodge motel miles from home. We would spend the weekend on our knees praying to the Lord. They spent what money was left to do this. When we returned there was nothing left for food, rent, utilities, etc. The trip up was filled with eager anticipation of how the Lord would find a way to provide for us. God always did provide for my family & still does.
